3 ways to make money as a web developer

April 27, 2023

Forget the struggling artist. You’re a struggling developer. In 2020, it’s a little more challenging to find a reliable career with a steady income, even as a developer with specialized skills. But we’re here to help you put those skills to good use! Struggle no more–here are three fool-proof ways to make money as a developer.

Make your own blog or YouTube channel

If you’re an experienced developer, why not share your knowledge? You can write blog posts teaching newbies the trick of the trade or offering advice to more experienced developers. If you’re more competent with verbal communication, go ahead make a Youtube channel and start creating content. Lots of people turn to the web for tutorials to teach themselves how to develop instead of seeking out a developer to do the job for them. So, if people aren’t going to come to you to make a product for them, you may as well still make money by teaching them how to make it themselves!

Offer your services as a freelancer

You can do this locally by reaching out to small business in your local area and offering your services for a small fee, or use sites like Fiverr or Upwork to find odd jobs people post. A lot of people these days are in search of a freelance developer to do small jobs! Just be wise and choose carefully. Make sure your client is trustworthy, and won’t pull any schemes.

Design your own software

Finally, make money as a developer by showing off your talents and creating something entirely unique. You don’t need someone else to tell you what to build–be your own boss and create what you want to create, and then sell it independently to whoever wants it.
